The Return of Paige (2)

Later that afternoon Paige and Amanda headed off to visit Elinor for a makeover. Amanda had not seen Elinor for a long time and she decided that this was a perfect time to visit. Paige was just dejected. Nobody seemed to remember her, she had no hair, Igor was sleeping in her bed and her clothing had all but been recycled by all the other girls.

Elinor, now known as Lanea, had been studying for a beautician and was now trying to make inroads in the dollie market. It was a hard slog and she often wondered if she shouldn't have stayed in broadcasting. Now she looking forward to helping Paige out and naturally seeing Amanda would be an added bonus.
"Hi girls, nice to see you. Paige, I am looking forward to this. We will make you look like a Twinn once again. I hope you brought the wig with."

"Hi Elin... Lanea, it is great to see you once again. I am sorry I missed your renaming, but as you can see I was somewhat indisposed." Paige explained.
"That's OK, don't worry, I heard about what happened. It is such a pity that the opportunity was lost. Lets make a start immediately, I need you to change into a gown and then hop onto the chair for me and relax. Dont mind the Kitties, they often pop in to see what is going on."
While Amanda headed for the bookcase, Paige changed and clambered onto the chair which had just been vacated by a cat.

Lanea examined Paige's head, "Eewww, this tape doesnt look very nice, I think I am going to have to replace it. This may hurt you more than it hurts me I am afraid." Lanea took the tape and peeled it off as gently as she could.

"OW OW OW OW!!" Paige shouted, scaring the Dokes the Cat who came to see what was going on.
"That tape is nasty stuff when it gets all sticky like that. Fortunately I got it all off and we can make a start. Lay back and relax Paige while I do my magic. I am going to start off with a nice hot steam session, you may feel like a lobster, but hang in there, it's not that bad."

After a few minutes Paige did feel like a lobster, but fortunately Lanea was there to make sure nothing happened. "That's done, now I can remove all that glue residue and get the old head nice and shiney once more." She examined Paige through her magnifying glass. "Hmm.. mmm... um.... mmmm...."
"I don't like the sound of all those Hmm's Lanea, tell me, will I ever play the piano again?"

Lanea giggled. "Oh, that's beautician humour. I never knew you played the piano Paige."
"I don't, which is a relief because we don't have a piano. What's next?"
"The old cucumber over the eyes thing. Its a personal favourite of mine."
"Does it work?"
"I don't know, but I always get a kick out of doing it."

"Aaah, some soothing creams, maybe a few dabs of the brush, and all will be right as rain."

"All done, as good as newish. Now we can fit your wig."

"Is this going to be your permanent wig?"
"I don't think so, I must root around in our wig box and see what else is there. I just want a decent head of hair instead of that crummy ragbag I had. When I have decided we can make an appointment for you to fit me a new one."
"This is a great wig, and it will do well for you now, but I do think you should try an auburn one next time". Lanea stretched the wig and prodded and combed. "Now hold still Paige, you know how these things always end up skew."

"Voila! Now run and change into the dress and shoes while I tidy up here a bit."
