The Missing Crocodile

In South Africa Brenda had heard the bad news about Carlisle from Penny back at the Continuum and set about to see what she could do. She first approached C&D Detective agency who immediately called in their markers and spread the world through the seedy underworld of trashy fashion dolls, rejected action men, defunct walkie talkie dolls and anybody else who had their ear to the ground. Then she set about having posters made and started hanging them around the neighbourhood.

Just as she finished Elinor and Skye came walking along on their morning stroll. "Morning Brenda" they said, "How is the search for Carlisle going? any news so far?"
"Hi girls, I wish I could give you some good news but I don't have any."

"We cannot give up hope Brenda, he has to be around somewhere." Elinor said.
"I know Elinor, you know how close the Emmas are to the crocs, we are all taking his disappearance very seriously. Penny says that everybody at the Continuum has been searching and so far haven't turned up anything. The last time he was seen was during an operation on an Alison. One minute he was there, the next he wasn't. The strange thing is that nobody saw him leave!"

Skye, who was C&D's resident missing objects expert looked at Brenda "Brenda, you know how I always get these odd feelings about missing objects? I am not getting any feelings about Carlisle's disappearance at all. Technically that means he isn't really missing. I know it's a small consolation and wont bring him back, but it does mean he isn't lost and is where he is because that's where he has to be."
"In a strange way that makes sense Skye, but what if he was crocnapped by a mutant radish and is being held captive in their burrow? or eaten by a giant pterodactyl? or has been taken by aliens who are using their nefarious mindprobes on him?"
"Bren, I think your imagination is running away here, have you looked in your crystal ball to see if there is any information in it?"

"Crystal ball? I will be a mess of Mallory's, I never even thought about the crystal ball. Come upstairs, lets go give it a try!"
And so Brenda, Elinor and Skye hurried upstairs and Brenda set up her crystal ball. "I hope I can get it to work, it's not exactly the worlds most user friendly."

Brenda waved her hands over the crystal ball while Skye and Elinor looked on. "What's it say Bren?" Elinor asked excitedly, knowing that the crystal ball had predicted her own arrival.
"It's still warming up Elinor, but I want everybody to concentrate on Carlisle and in your mind to ask the question "Where is Carlisle?"
Everybody concentrated on the question and slowly the crystal ball changed from it's normal red glow. "I see an image, it's... it's.... "

"It's... I don't know what!"
"Kind of looks like space if you ask me." Skye said.
"Carlisle's in space?" Elinor asked.
"I don't know, the crystal ball can be deliberately vague somedays. I shall have to ponder this a while and see if anybody can think of anything to do with Carlisle and space." Brenda said disappointedly.

So Brenda, Skye and Elinor are no closer to solving the mystery of Carlisle's disappearance, or are they?
