Randy spent the next few days gazing hopefully at his sled and the sky, it seemed as if his sled would only be of use as a raft. Then on the 10th of February he got a call from Princess Jessie of the Kingdom of Slumberland Weather Service, advising him that snow was on its way!

Randy was quick to act and was soon dusting off his sled in anticipation of the snow. He met Taryn by the door. She was already wearing her shorts and sandals but looked very chilly.
"Randy, aren't you a bit early for next Winter?" Taryn asked nonchalantly.
"Taryn, I told you, don't put your faith in a rodent with a top hat, I have it on good authority that it's going to snow soon. You had better go dig out those Winter woolies you packed away so eagerly.
"I will only believe it when I see it Randy, till then I shall brave the chill."

"Don't say I didn't warn you." Randy reminded her.
Taryn just laughed and went her own way, but wondering if just maybe a sweater and some snuggly socks wouldn't be a good idea. After all it was decidely chilly. In her room she burrowed in the sock drawer for the warmest pair she could find and quickly put them on. Then with chattering teeth she went to the chest where Wendy stored her knitting projects. "Brr. Brr. Brr," Taryn was saying as she dug through the pile and came up with a sweater that Wendy had rejected because it turned out way too big. Taryn pulled it over her head and sat all huddled up until the warmth started to penetrate her frozen body. "I will never trust a groundhog again," she informed Crosby who had come to see what all the fuss was about.
"Aah Taryn, what do rodents know about the weather anyway? that groundhog has been asleep the whole time, he never watched the long term forecasts like us crocs do. We have to keep up to date because we are cold blooded you know."
|
|
"Now I know how the mummies must have felt in ancient Egypt," Taryn said to Crosby. "Thank goodness, I am finally starting to get warm. If it snows later I will go find my long pants and get my coat back out of storage and see if the girls want to make a snow croc. We might as well enjoy the weather, even if I wasn't expecting it!"

|
By now Randy had settled down at the window to await the snow. He was just waiting for the chance to use his sled, and his patience was rewarded as the first flakes started to fall.
|
 |
The snow fell thickly and very soon covered the garden in a thick blanket of pristine whiteness. "Better go get the sled ready, this is definitely sledding weather!"
But the snow didn't seem to be letting up and it looked like it would fall right through the night, delaying Randy's debut on the slopes. "Not to worry" he told Timmy the cat, "tomorrow we can hit the slopes and show that groundhog a thing or two."
Tim just yawned and wondered if groundhogs made for a suitable kitty snack.
