The Arrival of Erin: aka 2006 Naming Ceremony

There had been a number of new arrivals at Tumbling Twinns over the months, most did not need new names but those that did were asked to hang on until Caitlyn could find her sword. In reality, Caitlyn was waiting anxiously for a new sword since her last one had been conscripted into service as a letter opener, seam ripper and barbeque tong by everybody. Finally the sword arrived by special courier. "Special delivery for the Tumbling Twinns," the courier announced.

"Oh Goodie, at last, we have been waiting for this sword for ages." Caitlyn said.
"I would have gotten here sooner, but I had to stop over at the Virgin Islands first." the Courier explained.
"Why is it that Twinns always end up stopping there anyway?" Caitlyn wondered.
"It's some sort of ritual, you know, like kissing The Blarney Stone". the other Twinn joked.
Caitlyn was one of only 2 Twinns at Tumbling Twinns that had not made the strange detour to the Virgin Islands so had no idea what happened there. "Say, while you are here, why don't you stay for the naming ceremony?" Caitlyn asked.

"Sure, why not, I don't have anything else to do except look for a new place to stay. The company I work for has opened a branch office in South Africa and I am supposed to do the deliveries."
"Cool, it's always nice to have another Twinn around, tell you what, the gang have all clubbed in and we have rented a flat together, if you are looking for a place to hang your gear we will be happy to accommodate you. Come watch the ceremony and we can discuss it afterwards."

Caitlyn, as the first arrival had been appointed to the position of Twinn Naming Authority for the Southern African Region. It was not a very difficult position to fulfill, but ever since Cait had been involved with the C&D Detective Agency she had not had the time to spend on the duties (which were most ceremonial and administrative). When Skye arrived Caitlyn decided to delegate the ceremonial side of the position to Skye, who would be able to add a touch of royalty to the ceremony, seeing as she was a real Princess.

"There is our new Sword of The Twinn Skye, you can be the official name giver for today."
"Thank you Cait, I will do the best job I can, I didn't really do a lot of this stuff back in the Kingdom of Slumberland though."
"That's OK, I never had much call to do any naming when I was wielding the official toothpick, there were only 3 of us last time I did it, and Dawn kept on interrupting us with strange questions.
"I heard that!" Dawn said, coming into the room.

Dawn had been invited to the ceremony because a witness was needed and the rest of the Twinns were not available.
"Do you remember these words Dawn? "Kelsey, what does vested mean?""
Dawn burst out laughing, "oh yes, I had a lot of fun that morning. But I promise I wont do it again."
"Right, who is first on our list?" Caitlyn asked.
"it's Victoria Cait. Call Victoria!!!!!" Dawn said enthusiastically
"I will go fetch her quickly, I hope she doesn't run away when she sees that sword."

"Oh Caitlyn, what if I mess up?" Victoria asked, "and that sword, what if I get stabbed or my arm gets cut off?"
"Don't worry Victoria, Skye has been told to be extra careful with it and I know she wont stab you or slice off your arm. Besides, it's not as if it's Dawn wielding the sword, then I would get worried. Come along, kneel on the cushion and we can do a proper renaming for you."
Victoria gingerly knelt on the blue cushion in front of Skye.

Skye raised the Sword of The Twinn and solemnly declared: "By the power vested in me as Twinn Naming Authority for the Southern African Region and as title holder to the throne of the Kingdom of Slumberland, I do hereby confer upon you the new name Victoria Jocelyn."
"Thank you Princess Skye, I only hope I can be worthy of such a good name." Victoria said, her confidence returning.
Dawn looked at Caitlyn and grinned. "See? not a peep out of me."
Caitlyn led Victoria away and brought in the next supplicant. "Kneel on the cushion please Justyn."

Skye raised the Sword of The Twinn and solemnly declared: "By the power vested in me as Twinn Naming Authority for the Southern African Region and as title holder to the throne of the Kingdom of Slumberland, I do hereby confer upon you the name Justyn David."
"Thank you Princess Skye, it's nice to be officially named. May I use the sword after you have finished with it? I have to open a box"
Caitlyn shoo-ed Justyn away "Boys! always looking for a way to make a mess! That's about it I guess." She turned to the courier who was watching all of this with interest. "The time you get your name changed is always fun. We don't do the barefoot run over the grass here but I think one of these days we should make the ceremony more elaborate."

The new Twinn thought for a moment, "I wonder if I couldn't ask you to do a name change for me?"
"Sure, why not?" Caitlyn said. "what's your name now?"
"It's Arcely, but I really would like to be called Erin or Colleen."
"Great choice." Dawn agreed.
"Hmm... well I am sure Skye would like to wield the sword once again. Skye? what do you think?"
Everybody was in agreement and Arcely knelt down on the cushion like the others did.

Skye raised the Sword of the The Twinn once again: "By the power vested in me as Twinn Naming Authority for the Southern African Region and as title holder to the throne of the Kingdom of Slumberland, I do hereby confer upon you the name Erin Colleen."
"Thanks everybody, I really do appreciate it".

"I have asked Erin if she is interested in coming to stay with us and she said she is, I am sure we can find her a spot somewhere." Caitlyn explained later on.
"Well, if Heather gets rid of some of those movie magazines and all of those unread scripts we can easily find a spot for her Caitlyn." Skye reminded Cait.
Dawn put her arm around Erin's shoulder, "Erin, did you know I've always wanted to meet a Sharon?"

And so it was that Erin joined the Tumbling Twinns, she was lucky to get her name changed almost immediately and we are sure glad she arrived safely (if somewhat battered).
