Even though the day was somewhat cloudy, several of the girls from the Twinn Continuum were outdoors enjoying their new playhouse and the fine spring weather.

Yvette was braiding Cathy’s hair, and Annette was starting work on the landscaping for the playhouse. As Annette was digging out some stubborn weeds, Leah kept everyone entertained by reading out loud. She was reading a book called Marigold’s Winter. Even though it was an old book, the story was very interesting and the girls especially liked it because it featured a cat.
Just then the mailman arrived with two big boxes. Annette jumped up and signed for them. "It looks as if we are getting some new members of the Continuum," commented Annette. All four of the girls thought back to the day they had arrived in those same infamous boxes.
"Yvette, why don’t you open the first one." Annette pushed back her curls which were always very springy with the damp springtime weather. "After all, you are the newest one here."
"OK." Yvette carefully slit the packing tape. "Oh, look, girls, it’s a Kate!"
"Hi everybody!" said the Kate cheerfully. "My name is Chandler Cherise, what’s yours?"
As the girls helped her out of the box, they introduced themselves. "Nice to meet you," said Chandler. "I came here from Western PA. And I really hope you guys have some wigs!"
Everyone had been too polite to mention that Chandler was bald. "Yes, we have lots of wigs," said Yvette, "and I love to do hair. I’m sure we can find something for you."
"And that’s a really pretty dress" added Cathy, as she moved Chandler’s box away.
"I think there’s a Cookie in there!" Leah gasped as the lower box was exposed. "I can feel those things now, ever since I helped Jane get reunited with her body. Hurry, Annette, let’s get this open."
"We’ll let you Cookies open this one," said Yvette, and she and Chandler and Cathy stood back to watch.
Annette and Leah carefully opened the purple box. "Wow, you are right, Leah, it is a Cookie," said Annette. "Only she doesn’t look very well."
"Hello," whispered the Cookie. "Please help me. I don’t seem to have any strength."
"Cathy, go get Meko!" Leah exclaimed. Fortunately Cathy was one of the fastest runners in the Continuum. "Hurry!" Annette and Leah helped get Cookie onto a chair.
"And get a hospital gown," added Annette. "The boys are around here somewhere and they could show up at any minute."
"And get a wig!" Yvette chimed in. "Please!"
"I’m a redhead!!!" yelled Chandler after the rapidly disappearing Cathy.
Cathy managed to get all the requests sorted out and was soon sprinting back along with Meko and Kimmie who had just happened to stop into sick bay for a moment.
"Thank goodness you’re here," said Leah. "There is something very wrong with this poor Cookie. Look at the way her knees are bent."
"I can’t straighten them out," whispered the Cookie. "Or my arms."
While Meko and Kimmie were checking Cookie’s vital signs, Yvette and Cathy were helping Chandler with the wig. "Oh Cathy, it’s just perfect," sighed Chandler happily. "It’s just what I would have wanted. Thank you." She gave Cathy a hug. "Now hold still, Chandler," said Yvette. "Let me comb you out."
Meanwhile, Kimmie and Meko were conversing in low tones. "Just as I suspected," said Meko. "No armature."
"Poor kid, no wonder she is weak," said Kimmie.
"Can you help me?" asked the Cookie wistfully. "I’ve been this way ever since I was born."
"Yes," said Meko, remembering that there was a fine 03 body in the storehouse. "Don’t worry, we will get you fixed up soon. Why, you’ll be able to run as well as Cathy here."
"Thank you," whispered the Cookie. "Thanks, all of you." Kimmie and Leah made a seat with their arms and they carried the Cookie into the infirmary.
"Wow, " said Chandler. "I was feeling sorry for myself because I didn’t have a wig, and she can’t even stand or pose."
"She’ll soon be good as new," said Yvette confidently. "I was only a head when I came here, and look at me now!"
"There’s one more thing," whispered Chandler confidently. "Yvette, I hope you don’t mind my asking. I am very grateful that you girls fixed me up right away with a wig, but I also don’t have any" (she lowered her voice to a whisper) "underpants."
Yvette and Cathy giggled. "Don’t worry, Chandler, we have those, too. Come on and we’ll get you some and you can meet some more of the girls." Smiling, the three headed indoors, friends already.
