|
This ex-Natal Government Railways Kitson locomotive 4-6-0T dates back to 1879, and at one point was the oldest working steam locomotive in South Africa. Before being "preserved" at Sanrasm she was in the employ of Escom before ending her days in Randfontein. She was proclaimed a national monument on 26 April 1983 after more than a century of service.
NGR: 1879-1910. SAR/SAS: 1910-1913, Victoria Falls and Transvaal Power Company: 1913-1948, Escom: 1948-1983. Sanrasm 1983-2010.
