|
This old NBL tank locomotive(NBL 24520/1938) with 2 slam door suburban coaches is found at Bokkie Park in Boksburg. The coaches have been modified to provide cooking and food serving facilities and portions of them have been blanked off. She was originally Crown Mines No. 8, and was transferred by Rand Mines from Crown Mines to ERPM in about 1979 for spares but was never used there. It went to Bokkie Park in 1997.
Special thanks to Sebastian Maytham who discovered her, and Clinton Hattingh who photographed her. Additional information by Piet Conradie and John Middleton's Industrial Locomotives of South Africa 1991.
