Durban Servicer

Durban Servicer underway in Durban Harbour.

Durban Servicer, famous for ruining many pictures of passenger ships, was in use as a bunkering barge in the Port of Durban. She offered a bunkering alongside service to many callers and was remarkably quick about sneaking in just under the camera lenses. Reportedly sold to private interests a while back she even spent time under arrest. There is no truth in the rumour that she was actually a submarine disguised as a telephone booth and provided a valuable contribution to the wellbeing of the port. Photo by Derek Walker.
