A Visit to the Graving Dock

One of the many highlights of my visits to Durban was a visit to the Prince Edward Graving Dock. It is one of those places that just inspires awe, and I was fortunate enough to be able to experience it. I have always wanted to do a photo essay on this visit, but could never find all the pics which were scattered amonsgt my slide collection. The ships in the dock that day were the Mobil Refiner and Regina D. I was also able to visit the floating dock, but no real images have survived about that visit. For those that are interested, the Prince Edward Graving Dock in Durban is able to be partitioned into 2 halves and its dimensions are as follows:

Overall docking length 352,04 m Length on keel blocks 327,66 m
Length on bottom 352,04 m Width at entrance top 33,52 m
Width at coping 42,21 m Inner Dock 138,68 m
Outer Dock 206,90 m Depth on Entrance MHWS 12,56 m
Depth on inner sill MHWS 13,17 m
