The Vroue Monument. Bloemfontein

This monument was erected in memory of the women and children that died in the concentration camps during the Boer War. The design of the monument was by Frans Soff with the sculpting by Anton van Wouw and was unveiled on 16 December 1913. A number of people are also buried at the site, including Emily Hobhouse, President M.T. Steyn and his wife Tibbie Steyn, and General Christiaan de Wet.
