The 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders Memorial
and Boer War Plot in New Roodepoort Cemetery

This memorial to the men of the 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders Memorial is in New Roodepoort Cemetery. It comemmorates the men who were killed of who died of wounds at Doornkop on 25 May 1900. Surprisingly the memorial is in a very good condition, and the original iron headstones can still be found behind the new headstones. There are also 6 headstones with no names, only the words "Here lies a British Soldier". The memorial can be found on the right hand side of the cemetery as you enter by the main gate.
