The First World War Memorial in Rotunda Park, Turffontein
I was not aware of this memorial in all the years I lived in Turffontein, I only discovered it by accident when looking for memorials in my map book. In 2007 when I originally took these photographs, vandals had taken their toll and all that was left was the stone plinth where the plaque must have been. I returned in 2011, hoping that something would have been done, but alas now even parts of the back of plinth are being removed. It is extremely unlikely that anything will ever be done to restore this memorial. |
