A photographic collection from Mariasburg Cemetery

I know nothing about how these soldiers came to be buried in this small cemetery in a rapidly declining area of the West Rand. Not too long ago the original iron crosses were replaced by newer ones, but vandalism and poor workmanship has ensured that the new stones didn't outlast the older original crosses. Sadly, a restored cross erected by the State of New South Wales in Australia lost its crosspiece and I don't know how much longer it will be before this cemetery's unique Boer War plot is lost forever.
I revisited the cemetery in August 2011 and the plot had been cleaned up and toppled stones restored. Unfortunately the original steel crosses had been removed, and the NSW cross had not been restored either, but it was nice to know that somebody had been at work cleaning the plot up.
It was brought to my attention that the name on the one grave was incorrect (Northcote should read Nethercote) and I have since corrected this on my page. Thanks to Steve Nethercote for the additional information.
