Graves of Boer Combatants from the ABW

The biggest conundrum I faced during my ABW research was finding the graves of the Boer combatants. Logically many must have been taken back to their homes and buried there, or repatriated to their homes or centralised cemeteries at a later date. It is also possible many were buried where they fell by either side. Johannesburg is not exactly an area with a lot of battlefields either, it could be that I am just missing out somewhere. The other problem comes in with identification. I have seen many graves that could be that of a combatant, but there is no "official" headstone that I can verify it against. Again, a shortage of information is a major problem, but in the final analysis, there are many more Imperial soldiers buried in South Africa than there are Boer ones....
